Review Before Removal

| Smart match | Phone, email, or UID | Repeated exports and general cleanup |
| Name + contact | Name plus matching phone/email | Shared household or work details |
| Phone only | Normalized phone number | Duplicate numbers across contact cards |
| Email only | Lowercase email address | Email-centered address books |
| Exact card | Same normalized vCard fields | Conservative removal of identical copies |

The chosen record keeps its organization, notes, addresses, photos, and custom vCard fields.
Answers about removing duplicates from vCard and VCF files.
Match safely, preserve contact fields, and verify the result.
Export your contacts as a VCF or vCard file, add the file to the tool, and choose a duplicate matching rule. Smart match compares normalized phone numbers, email addresses, and vCard UIDs. After the scan, review each duplicate group, choose the record to keep, and download a new cleaned VCF file. Your original contact export remains unchanged.
Repeated contacts commonly appear after importing the same phone backup more than once, combining Gmail and iCloud address books, moving between Android and iPhone, or exporting contacts from both Outlook and a CRM. The same person may use different punctuation or capitalization even when the underlying phone number or email is identical.
Smart matching is useful for repeated exports because it catches the same normalized phone, email, or UID. Name plus contact is more conservative when family members or coworkers share contact details. Phone-only and email-only modes are useful for targeted cleanup, while exact-card matching removes only records whose vCard fields are the same. Always inspect the detected groups before importing the cleaned file.
Keep a backup of the original export, download the cleaned copy, and test it with a small import when possible. The remover preserves the complete selected vCard record, including organization, address, note, photo, and custom fields. For other contact-file tasks, use the VCF merger to combine address books or the VCF to TXT converter to create a readable contact list.
